Israel Hernandez was raised in a traditional, coffee growing family in Rio Blanco, Tolima which is part of the famous Coffee Triangle, where the best Colombian coffees grow. At the age of 15, Israel entered the world of coffee when his father started teaching him everything he himself knew about coffee. In 2005, Israel Hernandez bought a farm outside Rio Blanco. Later he managed to buy a neighbouring piece of land and named it Buenos Aires. In 2016, he started cultivating Geisha in Buenos Aires and since then he has dedicated himself to growing specialty coffee. 2020 was a difficult year for Israel. As a result of the the pandemic he had to work with fewer workers. However as a third generation coffee producer, his experience and background helped him not only to survive but to thrive. For the fist time he submitted a coffee for the Cup of Excellence and he won the prestigious 4^th place.
